FREE MATH LESSON – “Free Downloads St. Patrick’s Day Math Game! Early Finishers and Centers”

by Alferi

3rd – 5th Grade

Free Mouse’s Multiplication and Division Game

Theme: St. Patrick’s Day

Purpose: to review multiplication and division facts

Players move around the coins to the pot of gold finish. One player will have to be Mouse to check answers.

36 lucky shamrock cards with 2 facts on each card.

This game is both fun and engaging! Great for math centers and early finishers.

I also provided a task card recording sheet if you would like your students to review without using the game.

The title of the game is Mouse’s St. Patrick’s Day Game. I chose this name in case you would like to change things up a bit. You could have your students use addition and subtraction flash cards. They could also make their own cards using more difficult problems , spelling words, or vocabulary words. Students can draw a shamrock on each card they make for the game to represent the lucky shamrock. The same directions can be used with a few minor changes. The game can be used for any type of review.

I hope your students enjoy this freebie!
All clipart is from Mycutegraphics.com
Thanks for downloading and feedback is always appreciated!

FREE MATH LESSON – “January Calendar Set – Snowflakes FREE”

by Key to Kinders

Pre-Kindergarten – 3rd Grade

62 Calendar pieces for your January pocket chart. I have included Calendar pieces to use in an AAB pattern. On our daily Calendar page, my students draw the corresponding snowflake along with the date. I give them blue and pink colored pencils to use and by the end of the month, their calendar looks great!

I have also included medallions for holidays and special days. You can tape the medallion to the upper left corner of the calendar piece. When the month is done, store them with the other pieces so that next year you can change the dates when you re-use them.

Finally, I have included a pattern key to help your students figure out the next colored snowflake they must draw. In January, my students will be responsible for filling out their journals by themselves (up until now, it has been a large group activity). There are extra small snowflakes and some large ones to help your kinesthetic learners.

Happy Teaching!

MATH PRACTICE – TEK 5.7 and CCSS 5.MD.A.1: Measurement Conversions Super Bowl

Football season is in high gear, AND it’s time to teach measurement in fourth and fifth grades!

Product Cover: Giant Football on Football Field Background

One buyer said, “Converting isn’t really all that fun and this made converting fun! Some of us (me) learned about goal lines and end zones!!”

Full of engaging, entertaining Super Bowl and NFL trivia, “TEK 5.7 and CCSS 5.MD.A.1: Measurement Conversions Super Bowl” includes ideas for differentiation, a lesson song and “dance,” teaching strategies, 2 versions of 24 task cards (multiple choice and open-ended), 2 answer keys, a football field diagram, and a Roman Numeral chart.  (Gotta know what all those X’s and I’s mean, right?!)

TEK 5.7 and CCSS 5.MD.A.1 expect children to apply mathematical process standards to select appropriate units, strategies, and tools to solve problems involving measurement. The student learns to solve problems by calculating conversions within a measurement system–customary or metric. Though this product is written specifically to fifth grade, it is suitable for advanced fourth grade mathematicians as well.

One buyer said, “Converting isn’t really all that fun and this made converting fun! Some of us (me) learned about goal lines and end zones!!

FREE MATH LESSON – “December Math Journal for Second Grade Common Core”

by McLaren Marvels

2nd Grade

In Math, I feel repetition, reflection, and thinking about their own thinking is extremely important. I think they need a constant spiral of the concepts we want them to master. I LOVE my kids and I LOVE Math, so I hope that shines through this product.
You may use this product in many different ways, but I will tell you how I plan to use it to give you an idea. Every morning my kids have jobs to do when they first get here. The morning can be a crazy time with them going to breakfast, settling in, ordering lunch, etc. These jobs get them in the groove pretty quickly. One of their jobs in the morning will be to get out their Common Core Math Journals. I put the whole month in a 3 ring binder. In the morning they flip to the page they need to do for that day. When we have done all the days in that month, I pull it out, staple it and send it home. Then, I’ll put the next month in.
I’ve been to a few workshops on Math that really stress the importance of reflection after a lesson. So, that’s why I included the bottom part. My kiddos do the top part in the morning and then after Math is done, they pull out their Math journals and write in their reflection for the day. I don’t know if it’s the top part or the reflection part, or a combo of both, but my kids are better at Math and retaining information better than EVER! I hope you see this to through the use of this product!
Thank you!
Brittany

FREE MATH LESSON – “Fold It Up – Ladder Method for GCF, LCM, and Factoring!”

by Cognitive Cardio with Middle School Math Moments

5th – 7th Grade

The ladder method is a fantastic way to find GCF and LCM, and is also a great way to help students understand the basics of factoring! This fold it up has a visual on the outside flaps, for students to refer to, and typed directions for the inside – you can print and copy both sides so the directions are on the inside, or you can have students write them in themselves.

Just cut out the large square, fold the triangles into the center, and put into your interactive notebook!

For some GCF practice, check out Factors and GCF Footloose

For prime factorization practice, your students might enjoy Prime Factorization Color by Number.

FREE MATH LESSON – “FREE Math Counting How Many More To Make Ten? Pilgrim Black and White Version”

by Learning Harbor Resources for Teachers

Pre-Kindergarten – 1st Grade

This task card activity provides counting and fine motor skill practice at the same time. A student looks at the number of objects that the character is holding, then he counts on to see how many more are needed to make ten. The student can mark his answers by clipping a clothes pin onto the answer, by covering the answer with a mini eraser, button, or any small game markers that you have in your classroom. I suggest laminating the cards for durability. If the cards are laminated, the students can circle the correct answer with a wipe off marker or crayon. To make the cards self-correcting put a small sticker or draw a star over the correct answer on the back of the card.
