by Growing Smart Readers

1st – 3rd Grade

This St. Patrick’s Day resource has opportunities for reading, making a mini book, drawing, coloring, working with compound words, and writing.
This original story is about a boy who has a knack for fooling a sneaky leprechaun. Kids will read how Peter tricked a leprechaun in this mini book.

Kids illustrate some of the pages to show comprehension. Writing pages check comprehension, as well as include prompts such as “What would you do if you had a pot of gold?”

~Mini book (12 half pages) for students to assemble, read and illustrate.
~Black and white for economical printing and coloring
~Print single-sided
~Cut and staple together for a simple little book to read and illustrate individually or with a reading buddy.
~Three additional full pages for responding to the text, working with compound words, and writing prompts.
~For homework, literacy centers, independent work, and those fast finishers that need to be challenged, as well as for after-school activities

I hope your students have fun with this!
Thank you for checking this out! ~ Karen
