Use this resource to teach students 62 different grammar skills with engaging reading passages. This resource offers quick daily practice that you can implement throughout your day.
Why Reading Passages?
•Provides context for the grammar convention you are teaching
•Provides students with the opportunity to examine an author’s choice of words, phrases, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph structure, etc. versus looking at a skill in isolation
•Promotes the transfer of grammar conventions to reading and writing
•Helps students close read (i.e. read for a specific purpose)
•Provides students the opportunity to analyze the impact of incorrect grammar on a writing piece. (e.g. text that is difficult to read or comprehend due to incorrect conventions)
•Helps students see how the pieces of the puzzle fit together (e.g. how parts of speech are the building blocks for sentences, how sentences are the building blocks for paragraphs, etc.)
