This is a wonderful activity to use at a center or station. Students try to unscramble the mystery word. The mystery word is a word that is found somewhere in the classroom, only it has been scrambled.

Students can search the room and use clues if needed to discover what the word is.

These puzzles are a great hands on activity that allows your students to build their own words.

• Includes 15 puzzles each with 3 pieces.

These puzzles look great when printed on colored card stock or colored paper!

Using colored paper helps your students to see the changes in the words visually too!

Simply print out all the pages (note: colored paper makes them really pop!) and then cut out all three parts of each puzzle.

A quick and easy activity to practice reading ‘ck’ words, as well as to reinforce the ‘ck’ rule: that it comes after a short vowel sound, at the end of a word.

Send this home to parents with your newsletter.
You can also email this file to your parents!**

This is what I sent home last year with my students–they loved taking this home as a reminder of easy, fun things they can do–nothing too difficult. These are simple, everyday literacy activities that DO contribute to growing into smart readers!

An extra page is for kids to write in their ideas for keeping tuned up with their literacy skills–You can also add math skills, too! Math literacy counts!! (Of course!)

How many times do you hear a parent or child say they want ideas of what to do over the summer? This is a “swimmingly” cute reminder of what kids CAN do over the summer. It’s a list of just a handful, 12 ideas, in fact….but it’s only a short list—because there’s so much more to do. This will spur them onto other ideas.

So, be sure to help them tune up this summer, and send this home with your kiddos. Remind them that tuning up can be more than just reading a book.

A recording sheet is included. Coloring the stars adds more fun to the exercise. The math activities in this packet support the development of the following concepts: addition and subtraction within 20; addition strategy of counting on; the meaning of the plus, minus and equal signs; commutative property of addition (3+5=5+3).

This activity could be played in a pair or small group. Each player has their own worksheet. Taking turns, if a roll doesn’t match any remaining numerals, move on to the next player’s turn. The first person to color all their stars is the winner.

Pre-Kindergarten – 3rd Grade

These sticker charts are a great incentive for good behaviour and help to create a positive classroom culture.

How they work:
– Students colour in their apples
– Charts are displayed on the front wall or behind the front door
– Students add a sticker to their chart when they are well behaved
– Charts can be laminated for reuse or sent home when complete as a ‘good behaviour’ certificate.

Kindergarten – 1st Grade

This files contains 5 Spinners Games to help kindergarten and 1st grade students learn their sounds. Each spinner combines a short vowel with different consonant including double ending ones such as “ll” and “ss”.

Also included are arrows for constructing the spinner and 3 suggested games and handouts for the games. Teacher must buy butterfly pins to construct the spinners.

EVERYONE LOVES CLIFFORD -JUST EVERYONE! And this free lesson, “CLIFFORD, THE BIG RED DOG CRAFTIVITY…AFTER READING THE STORY”, provides the primary age children with an introductory experience in my LanguageART approach to teaching…in which art and literature work together. After hearing the teacher read the story of Clifford, the Big Red Dog, and discussing the story, the students will then enjoy a simple cut and paste project. They will learn many basic art skills, have a chance to add creative details of their own, and of course have fun! This project can be used in the art room, classroom, or as a home school activity. These links will explain the LanguageART approach in detail, and show you a reduced price bundle of Clifford products.
