Christmas Elf Words Spin-n-Color turns coloring into a holiday game, cooperative learning center activity, or fun individual practice. It gives students an exciting way to learn and review words that are commonly seen in Christmas and holiday stories and text. As an added bonus, students get practice with team work, taking turns, visual discrimination, color sight words, and fine motor skills. This is a FREEBIE SAMPLE of my original song and unit that go with “On the 12th Day of December My Teacher Gave to Me…Math and Literacy Centers. If you like the song freebie, please consider purchasing the complete product. The complete product is particularly perfect for math and literacy centers. In that I have provided a poster form to either be used on the overhead projector, or hang up for students to see, and a Teacher Read- Aloud that I like to use to introduce the unit. There is a choice of student booklets, a full- size-page black and white that matches the teacher read-aloud, or a half-page version, whichever works for you. The activities are tried and true in my own classroom as well as my colleagues’! My song, as the original, plays on ordinal and number words, sequencing, repetition… I have added prompts for writing problem-solving stories, and other activities to give our students lots of writing practice, while they are having some fun. It all culminates in the “Snow Globe-shaped writing journal! Also included in the paid unit are vocabulary, number and number word cards, as well as math and writing task cards, sequencing the 12 parts of the song, mixed up sentences, and a labeling activity. It is my sincere wish that you and your students enjoy my song, and that you consider taking a closer look at the complete unit of work! Thanks again!!

This is a sample of Thanksgiving addition and subtraction story problems practice. The practice includes cutting and gluing story problems next to their answer so the students get some fine motor practice in too. Fun Thanksgiving theme!

FREE: Thanksgiving Fix it Up Sentences (Capital Letters & Ending Punctuation) —

This activity is connected to the CCGPS ELACCKL2a,b. Capitalize the first word in a sentence and the pronoun I and recognize and name ending punctuation. This is a one page Thanksgiving FREEBIE. It has a simple story including five sentences. The sentences are not written correctly. The first letter in each sentence is not capital, important names are not capitalized, and the ending punctuation is missing. Have your students rewrite each sentence correctly. Begin each sentence and important names with a capital letter and add the correct ending punctuation. The sentences used contain frequently used sight words and other decodable words that students should be able to read. These activities are great for morning work, literacy centers, or for a quick mini lesson on including capital letters and ending punctuation in sentences. Students can read the story to a partner or to the teacher after correcting the sentences. Students could also add other details to the story using the back of their paper.
