I created a class set of Calm-Down Glitter Jars for my kindergarteners’ Christmas presents! I have another jar I keep in the classroom. They are great to keep in your calm-down center of your room. Instruct and model how to shake up the bottles and watch the glitter to calm down when feeling frustrated, sad, angry, etc. I also let my children hold a calm-down jar during rest time. They are also fun to use as a transition tool. Everyone must try to clean up tables and be on the carpet by the time the glitter settles! Enjoy your glitter bottle and let me know how you use it in your classroom!

Instructions for Using Bingo Boards Grammar

Prepare the Materials:

  • Print the desired bingo boards and calling cards from the Bingo Boards Grammar bundle.
  • If you’re using the boards for multiple sessions, consider laminating them for durability.
  • Gather markers or tokens for students to cover the spaces (e.g., bingo chips, dry-erase markers, or stickers).

Introduce the Grammar Concepts:

Before starting the game, introduce the grammar concepts included in the bingo boards (verb tenses, parts of speech, sentence structure, etc.).

Review examples of each concept so students are familiar with what they are looking for on their bingo boards.

Distribute the Bingo Boards:

  • Give each student a bingo board. You can assign different boards for different skill levels, or let students choose their preferred board.
  • Ensure each student has a set of markers (or tokens) to cover the spaces.

Start the Game:

  • Choose a caller (teacher or student) who will read out the grammar-related prompts from the calling cards. For example:

“Find the past tense of the verb to run.”

“Cover the adjective in the sentence: ‘The quick fox jumped over the lazy dog.’”

  • If the students identify the correct grammar item on their board (e.g., a verb in the correct tense or a part of speech), they cover that space with a marker.

Winning the Game:

The first student to complete a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) and shout “Bingo!” wins the round.

  • You can choose to verify their answers by asking them to explain the grammar concept covered in their row (e.g., identify the verb tense in their winning row).

Optional Variations:

Multiple Rounds: You can play several rounds with different grammar concepts, or shuffle the calling cards for a new game each time.

Team Play: Divide the class into teams and have them collaborate to identify and mark the correct answers, promoting discussion and teamwork.

Timed Rounds: Add an extra layer of excitement by giving students a set time (e.g., 2 minutes) to mark as many correct answers as possible.

Wrap Up:

After each round, take a moment to discuss any tricky grammar concepts that came up during the game.

Offer additional practice or explanations as needed.

Here is a no prep, end of the year activity that will provide hours of fun review. Kids love cootie catchers (fortune tellers) and this one will let them celebrate the end of a school year.

Students can even use cootie catchers (also known as fortune tellers) as writing prompts to tell fun stories about their school memories. This is a free sample that includes one cootie catcher with 8 end of the year questions.

Words to use instead of “VERY”!

There are an endless number of concise and descriptive words available to students and the word “very” isn’t one of them! Young writers often overuse the word “very”. Students want to emphasize a word and seemingly always use “very” to do so. The truth is that “very” does not communicate enough information.

We can teach students to avoid using the word “very” with the pages in this resource. Use these colorful sheets to teach your students descriptive adjectives to use in place of “very”. Have fun!

FREE Clip Chart Behavior Management System – Cute Chevrons

This is my version of the Oh-So-Popular “Clip Chart Behavior Management System” to match my Chevron Theme.

This system is tried and true and works wonders!
I use it in my classroom and LOVE it.

Directions:
Print and cut apart the cards.

Attach the cards together (so that they make a long chart) on poster paper and laminate for durability.

Write each child’s name on a clothes pin and clip to the chart. Each child starts the day on the green “Ready to Learn” section every day. Good behavior allows them to move up the chart, while poor behavior choices
cause them to move down the chart.
