To celebrate 500 followers (seriously, you guys rock!!) Here is a fun freebie to spruce up your writing centers!! It includes 30 writing prompt/classroom book covers. Here’s how I use them (feel free to use anyway you’d like). Print them out (and laminate for durability). Then I run the writing paper back to back, this offers pages with a front and back. Then each student in the class makes a page responding to the prompt. After they are done, I bind each student’s page using the prompt as the cover. Now you have a classroom book! I put them in our classroom library, and do a drawing for them at the end of the year. I hope you enjoy!!

AAC users need opportunities to practice using core words both in context and out. Practice using the top 2 word phrase “take off” with engaging graphics by pointing to the symbol on the small communication board. The top five 2-word phrases include take off, put on, clean up, get out, and fall down.

This free sample shows “Take off.”

If you’re supporting AAC users or students with minimal language in telepractice – or even if you’re just looking for independent practice – this no print activity resource is for you. There are 8 cards in the sequence.

This BOOM deck is a no print resource to be used on tablets, computers, or Smartboards to teach AAC use. This cannot be printed.

Core word AAC implementation gives students access to the most frequently used words in language, so that they can learn to communicate most effectively and learn to generate novel messages.

Measuring Liquid Volumes Using a Graduated Cylinder ; Midiendo Volúmenes de Líquidos Usando un Cilindro Graduado (Spanish)

This product is an interactive science lab which focuses on measuring volumes of liquids using a graduated cylinder. It is also shown to the students that the measurements obtained with the graduated cylinder can be corroborated by pouring the water into a rectangular container and measuring the height of the liquid using a ruler. This scientific laboratory contains activities to Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate. Several parts of these activities may be followed by the students without the help of the teacher since they include very clear steps and guided questions that keep the students focused.

Concepts:

  1. Liquids have their own volume, but not their own shape
  2. We can add and subtract volumes of liquids
  3. Milliliters are equivalent to cubic centimeters
  4. Volume is a physical property of matter
  5. Liquids are an example of a state of matter
  6. Volume can be measured using a graduated cylinder or a ruler

A common frustration of group projects for teachers and students alike is the uneven distribution of work that often happens. Designating group roles ensures that each student has a clear idea of their responsibility to the group and understands how they can contribute. It also provides an opportunity for students to develop collaboration skills and personal responsibility.

How to Use

You can assign students their roles or, to help them practice cooperation and autonomy, have them determine their own roles. Students will receive a card with their role and the role description, and they can write their name on the blank space provided on the card. It is helpful to remind students about their roles periodically. You may also want to clarify that students can assist their group mates with different roles–i.e. just because you have one role does not mean you can’t contribute in other ways too. The whole group is responsible for the entirety of the final product, not just their portion.

Use these free Valentine-themed math story problems for your Word Problem of the Day leading up to Valentine’s Day.

There are five word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The fifth story problem is a multi-step math word problem.

Students may show their work on printed worksheets or complete the Easel Activity on a computer. Save photocopying costs and have students solve the problems on scratch paper and then find the correct multiple-choice response on the Easel Assessment.

I received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Educational Partnership. I am a National Board Certified Teacher and attained a scaled score of 386 points. Teachers needed a scaled score of 275 points to become certified.

I teach concepts in a very strategic way that is not found in the typical textbook. I will be creating videos that demonstrate how I teach language arts, math, and other subjects so that ALL students can succeed.

Here’s a quick way to focus the class before a session of independent reading or writing workshop. The Reading Record-Status of the Class sheet helps you track student independent reading accountability or independent writing workshop time.

Use the Status Check twice a week as a motivator and a reminder that reading is expected and it matters and that independent writing time is for making progress. Record books a student has completed, and focus in on those struggling readers who may need some modification. The Status of the Class Sheet is perfect for the homeschooler or any grade level requiring independent reading or independent writing workshop time.
