A self-editing toolkit is included so students can learn to self-edit and peer-edit. This writing journal is a great way to integrate writing into lifelong learning habits.

How does the self-editing toolkit work?
The digital version of this workbook includes a self-editing toolkit. Students use to drag and drop highlighter bars across their work. The highlighters help them find and correct their errors.

Finding new writing prompts can be time consuming, and I know you’re busy. So I’ve done the work for you to find interesting topics. I’ve included a page of suggested links to videos and websites to enrich the writing experience. It connects the students to the real world, letting them enjoy authentic writing tasks. The links are age appropriate for students in grades 3-5. Some of the September writing prompts:

- National Blueberry Popsicle Day. (Perfect for those warm days.)
- National Wildlife Day. (Learn and write about tigers.)
