TWO games to review verb forms with your students! Students try and collect all the forms of a verb before the other players in a fast-paced trading game. The first person to collect all the forms of the verb wins! The vosotros form is included, but if that isn’t something you use with your students there is a second set without vosotros! There are also printable spoons or spoon game boards for Cucharas.

There are instructions and materials for ¡El Toro! and ¡Cucharas! (Spoons) for your students. After my students become familiar with both games I love providing both options and letting them choose which game they prefer to practice with.

Here’s a fun way to review prepositional phrases and spread holiday spirit!

The Gingerbread Pirates by Krisitin Kladstrup is a nostalgic story with an adventurous spin for anyone who has baked holiday cookies and set them out on Christmas Eve for Santa. The adventure comes when the gingerbread cookies in the shape of pirates come to life! And yes, this book is enjoyable for intermediate students.

Gather your students around you and perhaps give gingerbread cookies for them to nimble on as you read the book to them. After reading, have students share with partners a family cookie or holiday tradition. Then remind your students that pirates love to hunt for treasure, and so they will go on a treasure hunt for prepositional phrases used in the book. Once the phrases are located and listed, play the Prepositional Phrase Bingo game.

I am excited to offer a product that is near and dear to my heart.
These playlets are based on true stories about kids who have affected the lives of many children and adults alike.Use a real-life situation playlet to interact with your class on some important topics!

Each playlet can be presented in a matter of minutes; its purpose is to promote discussion about relevant issues in a fun way! Playlets can be done in class, on morning announcements, at parent and community functions.

In a Playlet, 4-5 students act out a short script. When the narrator says “FREEZE!” the characters become immovable while the students discuss what’s happening. Then the actors continue until the word “FREEZE!” occurs again. Discussion question posters are included.

The teacher is the director and guides discussion during EACH FREEZE. IF discussion gets lengthy, a fun thing to say to your actors is “UNFREEZE! AT EASE!” Then they can join in the discussion too!

You will see students with a strong understanding of bullying and disabilities awareness. Listen to their new conversations.

This writing project is creative way to teach research skills to your high school U.S. history students as well as increase their knowledge of the Spanish-American War.

I used this project as a way to encourage research skills, creativity, and teamwork among the students in my class. While geared towards 11th and 12th grade history classes, this project could easily be adapted for 9th and 10th grade levels. This could also be used in homeschool curriculum. A rubric is included.

My 11 page contraction lesson contains interactive pages, links to website activities and a student worksheet. You students will have fun learning how contractions are made from 2 words playing some on-line interactive games. They’ll use pull tabs and “click and reveal” to read 2 words and the matching contraction. Sing along with a contraction song/video link and play a matching game. Finally, a worksheet is included to check for understanding.

This 10 page document has students sort picture word cards of various items you may find under the tree under Christmas “holiday” tree for 1 syllable, 2 syllable, 3 syllable, or 4 syllable words. There are six words for 1 and 2 syllable words, six words for 3 syllable words, and there are four 4 syllable word cards. There are also blank cards for creating your own syllable cards. In addition, there is a recording sheet to go along with this activity for a group or individual, and an independent assessment sheet. This item is a fun way for students to learn and practice syllables, and can be used in a whole group, centers, or independently.
