Four informational text responses that you may use with any book, magazine or reading passage.

1st reader response -The children are asked to write 3 things they have learned, 2 interesting facts and 1 question they still would like to research. There is a space to write the topic of the text and also a space for an illustration.
2nd reader response – four-square – write about the topic
3rd reader response – find four fascinating facts about the topic read
4th reader response – expanding vocabulary – new words found in text – write word, definition, sentence and illustration.

This is a quick freebie for you!

It is a simple word sort I used this week for double medial consonants- similar to the 1+1+1 or doubling rule.

Small amount of colour so it can easily be printed in black and white or colour!
No need for instructions- simply cut, sort and glue!
Even if the kiddo’s don’t get the rule, they can still visually identify the pattern and sort them.

Exit slips are the perfect way to formatively assess your French classes! Do you need to know how well your students understood? Have them self-assess AND answer formative questions!

You’ll get 5 different exit tickets that will allow you to vary your questioning and work with different student levels. All writing is entirely in French, but a few versions are created to work perfectly with questions written on your board or integrated into your class presentations. Even French 1 classes can use these!

You can have students answer in complete sentences, draw, or even quickly conjugate verbs you are practicing.

Super Sentences – CVC Edition is the perfect resource for helping your students learn how to write a sentence, read sentence and understand sentence structure. In this multi-sensory approach, students will practice writing sentences in a fun and engaging way. As a teacher I am always looking for ways to practice multiple skills at one time. These Super Sentence pages do just that. Your students will practice reading, writing and comprehension all in one page.

Each page includes the following sections:
*Read It – I encourage my students to read the sentence independently and touch each word as they read .
*Build It – Students will cut the words from the bottom of the page and build the sentence correctly. Having the sentence at the top of the page allows the students to practice a proper sentence using matching as necessary.
*Write It – Students will copy the sentence and write it on the lines provided. Encourage students to use proper handwriting and spacing during this step.
*Draw It – Students will illustrate the sentence. If students have read the sentence independently then you have a chance to assess reading comprehension in this section.

This is a symmetry activity where students draw in the lines of symmetry for 9 different shapes on a piece of paper. Each of the shapes are also enlarged so that the students can cut them out and test the objects by folding them. Once students fold the objects to test different lines of symmetry, they go back to their paper and make any changes. Note: The teacher can also cut these shapes out ahead of time and put them on card stock to make them more durable.

Scientific Notation (Collect a Joke worksheet)

This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the letters to give the punch line to a bad maths joke!
Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the letter in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the letter underneath, thus collecting the punchline ‘because they have sine and cosine to get a tan’.
Easily laminated to be used with whiteboard pens time and time again.

This little insect worksheet and butterfly life cycle will give students the opportunity to learn about how insects protect themselves and about the life cycle of a butterfly. After completing the activities, they can take them home and share what they learned with their parents. My kids LOVE these activities . . .I hope your kids will, too!

This K-5th Character Education Song Kit for RESPONSIBILITY contains:

• Words & Music: Melody line with Chords

• Easy Movement Suggestions for the song (simple hand movements with students standing in place.)

• 3 MP3 tracks – Vocal & Accompaniment – While this is not a professional studio recording, it will be very useful for non-music teachers as well as music teachers to sing along with their students.

There are two versions of this song – one for K-1st and one for 2nd-5th. There is a vocal and accompaniment track for each of these.

These are original songs that I wrote and used as a cooperative effort with our school counselor in our school’s K-5 CHARACTER EDUCATION program. The songs are simple enough for Kindergarteners to learn most of each song while teaching them to all grades.

Other products include individual Character Education Song Kits for each trait.

Also available is the entire CHARACTER EDUCATION SONG KIT PACKAGE that includes all 11 Kits. (Responsibility, Respect, Courage, Good Judgment, Citizenship, Integrity, Cooperation, Trustworthiness, Kindness, Self-Discipline, Perseverance)

In K-2nd I would begin each class with the song for that month. Grades 3rd -5th would sing them a couple of times throughout the month and were always encouraged to “Help teach the song to younger siblings!”

It was a school-wide effort that was appreciated by our school community. I also included them a few times in an end-of-the-year program where the entire school audience would join together singing them.
