FREE MATH LESSON – “Skip Counting by 3s – Ice Cream Scoops (FREE)”

Kindergarten – 3rd Grade

Each ice cream cone has 3 scoops. Skip count by 3s to find the sum.

Students are asked to skip count by 3s up to groups of 10.

For more advanced students, I recommend having them write a repeated addition and/or multiplication sentence to represent each question.

Are you looking for a new interactive way to teach and assess Number knowledge to 10?

Try these new Number slap hands, inspired by my VERY popular Dolch Slap hands!

This set includes 2 separate options to print!
Numeral cards (1, 2, etc)
Numbers as words(one, two, etc)
Includes all numbers 1-10

Simply print on cardstock and scatter in a random pattern on the floor or taped to the wall.
It may be easier for struggling learners to only use a few numbers at a time (3-5).

Give a student a number and they need to slap it with their open palm to show their recognition.

Students place one number card at a time on a game board to form a 3 digit + 3 digit equation. Once a number card is placed on the game board, it cannot be moved. The student with the highest correct answer wins. Students review addition as they use logic and problem solve to find the highest answer.

4 digits + 4 digits

Do your students need a fun way to practice their multiplication facts? There are FIVE different color by multiplication pictures each, ready for your kids to color as they solve each multiplication equation.

Pirate Multiplication Puzzles

The five pictures vary in difficulty, ranging from a small anchor that only requires two multiplication equation solutions to an almost full page scene with a pirate ship that requires over 50 solutions.

You can use these as assessments, in centers, as independent work, etc. Simply print the pages out and distribute to students as desired. This allows for differentiation as you can choose the easier pictures for struggling students and the more challenging pictures for students who need more of a challenge. For your students needing additional practice, start at the anchor picture, then the flag, followed by the treasure chest. If your students are already proficient with their multiplication facts/equations, start them at the scene with the parrot or the scene with the pirate ship!

This is a fairly simple game for students to practice their place value skills to the hundreds. Two students play against each other. Each student picks 3 number cards from a pile and tries to make the biggest number they can. The player with the biggest number gets a star. The winner is the player with the most stars. I’ve also included a recording sheet for students to practice writing standard form, word form, and expanded form.

Have you tried my interactive color code videos? Well, if not, here is your chance to try one for free. These videos are engaging and fun! Each one runs for about 30 minutes! Use this time to keep your students engaged while you re-teach small groups or test students one-on-one. These are also wonderful resources for subs!

Make copies of the included worksheet for your students. Turn the video on and walk away. The video tells students what color crayons to get. There is a timer to keep them on task . Each addition fact pops up in yellow and students color the corresponding area of their sheet. These are wonderful for mental math as well as time management and following directions.

This video focuses on addition facts to 13.

Mixed review of multiplication facts, lines and line segments.

Students are asked to solve problems similar to the following:

5 x ( ) = 15
6 x ( ) = 12
2 x ( ) = 2
4 x ( ) = 8
3 x ( ) = 30

The bottom portion of the worksheet includes 3 multiple choice questions asking students to identify the given lines and line segments.

This can either be used as a morning warm-up, math warm-up, homework, in-class practice or quiz.

About Google Slides Warm ups

Are you looking for a digital warm up or bell ringer option? this resource has you covered! Included are 124 individual Google Slides Warm Ups, each with given areas to type answers. The warm ups are not editable at this time.

Watch a video preview of the 7th Grade Warm Ups (formatted the same as the 8th grade ones) here!

The warm ups are the same ones included with the 8th Grade Math Curriculum – they’ve just been pulled out and are being offered separately in a digital format.

What’s Included?

When you purchase the Google Slides Warm Ups, you will download a PDF with instructions on how to access the warm ups. There will also be a link for the teacher version of the warm ups with the answers. There are not worked out solutions on the keys – just the answers.

Eventually a self-checking, Google forms version of the warm ups will be added to the file. There is NO estimated date for completion at this time. When they are added, you will be able to download this resource again and get access to that version as well.

Bundle Information:

The Google Warm Ups are not available in any bundle at this time. I will be bundling together the Google Warm Ups for grades 6 – 8 when the other grade levels are complete. The printed version of the warm ups are available in the 8th Grade Math Curriculum Units.

Do you want a way to effectively use computer technology with Pre-K and Kindergarten Students? Would you like students to develop computer or device skills while simultaneously developing the sorting skills that are so important to math and science? Here is a free lesson to help you teach technology skills and sorting skills at the same time. Before using this FREE lesson, start with sorting different colored objects such as blocks or counters. After your students have hands on practice with these, you can move on to this Google Classroom™ activity.

There are ten slides in this activity. Each slide asks the students to drag and drop all of one particular color into a marked space on the slide. There is a slide for each of these colors: blue, black, brown, white, green, orange, pink, purple, red and yellow. There are nine movable pieces of the requested color, some with different colored pieces mixed in. Students will sort the colors in the paperless activity and practice dragging and dropping objects on a computer or device.This computer activity can also be used as Response to Intervention or as an authentic assessment
