The author is a a member of Norway House Cree Nation, and an important aspect of this novel is presenting the story to shine a light on indigenous culture and perspectives.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and civil-rights activist who had an epic impact on race relations in the United States, playing an instrumental role in ending the legal segregation of Black citizens in the United States, and the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

This 6:00 minute video shows his life and legacy and pairs well with my Martin Luther King, Jr. Differentiated Unit – Standards-Based. The video covers from birth through his assassination. This MLK video also works well as a stand alone product.

A continuación se recortan los triángulos y se pegan formando un árbol.

En mi clase antes de pegarlos cada alumno lee su mensaje y explica lo que significa para él/ella. Siempre da muchas opciones para mejorar el clima de la clase, las relaciones entre alumnos, aspectos sobre el medio ambiente, la pobreza, la ayuda, la tolerancia…

Es una actividad ideal para hacer durante una asamblea y todos los alumnos participan en ella y se sienten parte del conjunto. No es posible hacer un árbol completo si falta uno de ellos.

Si son muchos alumnos en el aula podéis hacer un paisaje con varios árboles. En mi caso yo haré un árbol con 16 triángulos, otro con 9 y otro con 4.

These assessments were designed to be used with Core Knowledge (CKLA) or Amplify Core Knowledge Domains/Knowledge strands. These assessments can be used in place of the thumbs up and thumbs down assessments which can be confusing for both students and parents.

Every assessment and mid-domain assessment containing thumbs up or thumbs down is included as well as any assessments that are just a row of name choices on the page. I did not recreate/reformat any assessments that ask students to circle a picture or write out a response.

The assessments have the questions included so parents know what was asked or so students can read on their own/work ahead.
