FREE MATH LESSON – “Kite Fact Families: Sums of 8, 9, 10”

by Tessa Maguire

Kindergarten – 1st Grade

These kite fact families are perfect for an interactive bulletin board or centers board. Print and laminate all of the pieces. Mount the kites on a bulletin board or a magnetic board. Use a piece of yarn or piece of fabric for the tail. Place the tail bows in a bucket. Students draw a bow and place it on the correct kite.

If you use this as a bulletin board, I think you should use velcro on the tail and the bows. If you are using it on a magnetic board, you can just place magnetic tape on the back of the bow.

Hamlet Unit No prep

Product Description

NEW LOOK – This resource now has a new format. Please note that MOST evaluations are still available in Word format for easy modifications.

One entire month of planning done for you – I dare you to enjoy Shakespeare.

I love teaching Shakespeare’s plays, and I want you to love it too. I’ve been teaching and improving this unit for over ten years. All of the thinking has been done for you. I love annotating my plays and books. I’ve taken all of the annotations made in my play over the years and incorporated them in a guide to help you guide students and help students understand. Many people (including teachers) get overwhelmed with Shakespeare because of the language. This unit has been created with the student in mind. The activities are thorough, but simple enough for students to understand and enjoy the play.

This unit has everything a teacher needs to teach Hamlet. Just photocopy and teach. Seriously it’s that easy. There’s no longer a need for hours of research and piecing together bits of information and activity sheets you don’t know what to do with.

This is a whole, complete unit, from scene summaries, important notes and annotations notes to help students understand what they are reading. I have also included an introduction to the play, a student guide, a teacher guide with detailed lesson plans, quizzes, a creative assignment, and tests (all with answers and evaluation grids), and a comprehensive answer key. Everything has its place and teaches a specific skill.

The unit is appropriate for students in grades 10, 11 and 12.

The unit includes :

– An attractive, interactive, multimedia PowerPoint presentation introducing the play (17 slides)

-A Student Study Guide (with activities, Act, and scene questions…) and various activities (16 pages)

-Study Questions are available in two different formats – Print saver (with all questions on one page – students write their answers on a separate sheet) and Long Form (Where space is provided for students to write their answers directly on the question sheet)

-A Teacher Guide (with detailed, comprehensive lessons, unit plan, and additional notes to guide students.) -9 pages and 17 complete lessons. The teacher Guide includes journal and discussion prompts and list of speaking roles if reading out loud in class)to help with time management and organization.

-18 pages of comprehensive scene summaries and important notes for each scene (annotations for each scene)***THIS IS A TEACHER FAVORITE!

A creative Hamlet Guess Who? Game to help students understand the characters. (What’s fun about this game is that it can be played from the beginning of the play right to the end, and students’ answers will change depending on the act they are reading.) LOTS OF FUN!

-A comprehensive answer key for all questions and activities. (24 pages)

-Comprehension quiz on Acts 1 and 2 in Word format for easy modifications (with evaluation grid) and answer key.

-Option 1: Mid-play evaluation – The Parody – creative writing and analysis (in Word format for easy modifications – with evaluation grid)

-Option 2: Mid-play evaluation – The Parody – a creative group presentation (Only available in PDF format)

-Summary guide (highlighting the significant events from each scene with important analytical information) – Throughout my years of teaching this play, I have amounted excellent notes and annotations, listing the most significant actions throughout each scene. I have retyped these annotations to help you teach the play, so your students will understand it (and so will you). (18 pages)

-The culminating evaluation includes three different versions of the final unit test with evaluation grid and answer key (in Word for easy modifications)

Includes a total of 115 pages.

Wuthering Heights Student Workbook

Product Description

Wuthering Heights Student Workbook contains everything a teacher needs to teach Bronte’s novel. Instead of the boring question and answer format, the Student Workbook prompts students’ ideas about characters, asks them to comment on significant quotes, and to notice some of the essential techniques used by the author such as symbolism, allusions, themes, etc. in each of the chapters. I have created this resource for my own classes, and students love the meaningful format. Instead of writing information about themes, symbolism, characterization, etc. on separate sheets apart from the chapter questions, everything is integrated in a simplified way.

In addition, a comprehensive answer key is also provided for the teacher. You now have all of the flexibility needed for your lesson plans with all of the work provided for you.

More specifically, the Student Workbook contains work on (42 activity pages):

· Important information from each chapter

· Setting description and symbolism

· Characterization (you can see the characters develop as the students’ read)

· Gothic elements

· Symbolism

· Themes

· Supernatural occurrences

· Significant quotes

· Narration

· Sociogram (to show characters’ relationships)

· Inferencing questions to further students’ understanding

FREE MATH LESSON – “(Not your ordinary…) Geometric Shape Bingo”

by Amy Bratsos

2nd – 5th Grade

I am very excited to share the revised version of my Geometric Shapes Bingo! The concepts and vocabulary remain the same, but the game and clue cards are redesigned using Powerpoint, giving the product a more attractive, kid-friendly “face lift”!!
This is NOT your ordinary Bingo game! This set includes 10 different reproducible Bingo cards with the traditional format of 24 squares and a “free space” in the middle. Each of the squares has a word or a picture of a different polygon, including such shapes as squares, rectangles, circles, trapezoids, rhombuses, right triangles, scalene triangles, isosceles triangles, obtuse triangles, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons, There are 70 clue cards that the teacher reads and the students choose a corresponding square to cover- here is where the CHALLENGE begins! More than half of the clues can be answered correctly with more than one shape, so not only does the student have to be able to identify and classify shapes, s/he has to think strategically in order to cover the shape that increases the chances of filling an entire horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row. For example, the clue “this shape always has at least one right angle” could describe a right triangle, a square, or a rectangle, In addition to definitions using geometry vocabulary, the clues offer a variety of opportunities for higher level thinking. Knowledge of calculating perimeter and area, as well as familiarity with angle measurement are necessary to answer several of the clues.

The Common Core Standards challenge teachers to provide many opportunities for identifying, classifying, comparing, and problem solving using shapes, and this Bingo game is a good resource to use as a fun opportunity for students to practice these skills. I was very excited to stretch my own mathematical thinking as I created this game, and am enthusiastically working on other engaging and challenging lessons and activities to help our students gain a deep understanding of geometry.
This set includes
-10 colored reproducible game cards (because each clue has many possible answers, more than one student having a duplicate card isn’t a problem)
– Instructions for the traditional game, as well as several variations of the game to provide differentiation for a variety of skill and grade levels
-70 reproducible clues

The colored game cards produce a nice grayscale copy, but if you prefer blackline masters I would be happy to provide you with those free of charge.

Thank you for your interest in this game- I hope your students enjoy it and you see measurable growth in their ability to describe, identify, and classify shapes! If this product fits the instructional needs of your students, you may want to take a look at the many K-5 products in a variety of subject areas at my store:

FREE MISC. LESSON – “Back to School Activity Fun Pack”

by DP Sharpe

Kindergarten – 4th Grade

Here is a fun little pack of interactive activities that your students can complete during the first few days of school. They will help fill the void as you take care of back to school essentials such as form filling and parents.

Included in the pack are three Let’s Lace Up activity cards. The cards are really a fun way of completing the basic matching activity that we do all the time. Instead of using pencil and paper, the students use string to join the items on each column together. The string will match the answer sheet on the back if they are laced correctly. Two of the cards feature back to school pictures and words that the students will match, and the last card features back to school compound words. These are great hands on, self-checking, interactive activities for your students. There is also a direction sheet included in the download. Students will have fun with these cards during the first days of school.

The bookmark features more back to school words; after completing they can be laminated, and of course it can be a useful tool.

Welcome your students with a tasty back to school treat. Fill sandwich bags with lucky charms cereal then staple the bag topper onto the bag after cutting and folding on the line. The back of the bag topper gives an explanation of each marshmallow shape. The bag topper is made for regular sandwich bags that measure about 7 x 8. There are two versions included: “Welcome to School” and “Welcome Back to School”. I have also included a note that I place inside each bag for the students to read or to have an adult read to them. Students are always excited to receive this treat and will also have fun filling out the bar graph worksheet which can be done as a homework assignment or in class.

Thanks for downloading and I hope your class enjoys this fun pack as my class does!
