FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON – “Reflection Questions on the Pandemic — distance learning”

by Just Add Students
5th – 9th Grade

It’s been a year! What have your students learned about themselves during this past year? It’s important to let our students reflect and consider what they’ve been through, what they’ve lost, and what they’ve gained through this difficult, weird year.

This print and digital freebie includes a short, reflective questionnaire along with a writing prompt, and rubric.

Your students can use the questions to formulate a short reflective essay.

Extend their reflections into a memoir. What a great way for them to document their experiences this year.

Use it as a warm up, bell ringer, fast finisher activity, journal activity, or reflection journal prompt.

Perfect way to open up conversation and let your students think about how they’ve grown and matured through the pandemic.

Help your students connect with and make sense of this past year.

I love hearing from you! Please leave feedback!! Even for a freebie! It helps me know what you’d like to see more of!

And while you’re here, please follow my store — I’d love to have you as my friend!!

With gratitude,

Marypat

Free Group and Skit Evaluation Rubric

Description

Group work is always tricky to evaluate because there is so much going on. In addition, as educators, we are required to give detailed feedback on students’ performances.

I created this FREE document to make the teacher’s job easier, and to allow students to be responsible for their success as well.

Self-evaluation grids are a great way to guide students in their evaluations. Students will know exactly what is expected of them and will be made responsible for their success. This package can also easily be changed to be used as peer evaluations.

This self-evaluation grid will help students as well as teachers to assess students’ group work. When students use this grid to assess their work, there are no surprises when they receive their final mark. This grid, in particular, allows the students to become organized and responsible for their individual parts.

These self-evaluation grids are also very helpful to teachers:

❒ Helps the teacher justify the final mark;

❒ Helps to identify students’ weaknesses and strengths;

❒ Helps parents and students better understand the task required;

❒ Helps teachers create rubrics for the final evaluation.

Because of formatting issues, this package was created in a PDF document, but I can easily email you a Word file to be easily modified and changed according to the individual teacher’s needs.

Description

The Spelling Flip Book is designed to help young learners become familiar with spelling rules and to incorporate them into their work.

Students can color and personalize their flip books to enhance the spelling learning experience.

I always like encouraging my students to use their flip books as reference sheets when they are working to promote good spelling habits. The goal is that eventually, by using the flipbook when working, the student will begin to remember common errors made in the past and correct them. I have had much success with this strategy in my classes.

FREE SCIENCE LESSON – “Earth Day Report Card”

by Runde’s Room
3rd – 10th Grade

This Earth Day, give your students this report card and have them evaluate how “green” their school / classroom / home is.

There are three different report cards: one for the whole school, one for the classroom, and one for the home. You could either have all students complete both the school and classroom report card, or divide your class into two groups and have one group complete the school card, and one group complete the classroom card. Students could then compare the results to see how their classroom compares to the school. Home report cards could be taken home for students to complete with their parents.
