Senior Language Arts Learning Goals Poster

Learning goals are important for our students’ education and learning. When we have a goal in mind when teaching, everything else serves a specific purpose, and everything seems to fall into place. As teachers, we are asked to display these learning goals in our classroom, but for me, this wasn’t possible.

With 30 plus students in my class, I didn’t have time to write my learning goals on chart paper or display them on the board. Hmmm… what’s a girl to do?

I created these posters to make my life, as well as yours, easier. This bundle offers ALL of the senior, (grade 12) goals and is in line with the Common Core as well as the Canadian curriculums.

The bundle includes:

– A 14-page checklist of all of the learning goals, which can help the teacher keep track of what’s been covered and what hasn’t.

– 55 Learning Goal posters (8×11) that can easily be posted on the bulletin board or the chalkboard at the front of the class.

These posters allow students to track learn the focus of the lesson.

Three strands are covered: (with the focus of each poster clearly indicated)
1) Reading and Interpretation
2) Writing and Representation
3) Oral and Oral-Visual Communication

Lesson on Sonnets

This mini bundle includes a sonnet from William Shakespeare (#130) and a sonnet from Elizabeth Browning (How do I Love Thee?). In this activity, students will compare the different tones and forms from both poems. One is beautiful and romanticizes love, and the other sees love realistically (and a little meanly if you ask me). Students will identify the different types of sonnets, the figurative language found within their lines, and will have the opportunity to write their own.

Students get to see another side of Shakespeare from his sonnet. Students always love his realistic, yet sarcastic portayal of love.

The mini bundle includes:
– a detailed lesson plan for the teacher
– student notes (the poems) and activity
– an annotated copy of the poems as well as a comprehensive answer key.

4 Photos 1 Word: Life Science Edition is based on a popular game app. Four photos are all connected in some way. You have to decide what the connection is. These are all for life science vocabulary words.

There are blanks at the top to show how many letters each term is. The letters on the bottom are used to make the term. However, there are extra letters at the bottom, so it’s not just simply unscrambling.

There are 8 puzzles included and a blank template for students to create their own puzzle!

New Interactive HTML5 Lessons are complete single topic Science lessons that put the student in charge of their own learning. Concepts are INTRODUCED with interactive elements requiring input from the student and providing immediate feedback based on the student’s responses. Students then EXPLORE to further expand their understanding with Hands-On projects and Lab activities. Next, students INVESTIGATE by assembling, researching, and completing Infographic pages that serve as a graphic representation of what they have learned and make great additions to their Interactive Notebook! This original story is about a boy who has a knack for fooling a sneaky leprechaun. Kids will read how Peter tricked a leprechaun in this mini book.

Kids illustrate some of the pages to show comprehension. Writing pages check comprehension, as well as include prompts such as “What would you do if you had a pot of gold?”
