Read about the Angler Fish, the Clownfish, and the Mimic Octopus! This resource includes informational paragraphs and follow-up questions for vocabulary and sentence writing.

This 3 page sampler contains short factual paragraphs; quick reads… so kids can glean the main facts and key ideas about each animal.

I created these for some of my students who get too stressed when they see long passages. Having less complex text makes it easier for them to read and feel successful.

Use them for independent work, center work, or as a supplement to a unit study on the ocean or ocean animals. These are especially great for summer school or after school mini lessons.

ELA Common Core Standards are listed for second and third grade level expectations.
