This is a free sample of additional activities like those found in Fall Receptive Language: Feature, Function, Class (autism)

Using a fall theme with apples and pumpkins, this combination of print-and-go and reusable materials is great for early learners, ABA programs, discrete trials and speech therapy. They are designed to provide a variety of ways for special education students and early learners to practice receptive vocabulary skills beyond just naming items.

I developed them with the idea of using them with students in discrete trials to be able to administer trials to more than one student and to add some variety to the materials for teaching these skills to prevent students from getting bored. They are designed to help students working on identifying items by feature (characteristics/adjectives), function, and class (category).

Confidentiality posters for your office! Free, snazzy, psychoeducational Confidentiality Posters for the Trauma Informed School Counselor. Because everything can be a learning moment, from the passive learning from your office decor to the active learning students encounter in your office and their classrooms. Various backgrounds, including dinosaurs, kittens, tribal print, unicorns, glitter, rainbow, chalkboard, tie-dye, galaxy print, and more!

Confidentiality posters are quite literally a necessity for school counselors, but that doesn’t mean they have to be scary or boring! In true school counseling style these confidentiality statements build on the standard exclusions to become an opportunity for education.

Each poster says this or a variation of this:

Confidentiality

(or, the rules about what stays between us and what doesn’t.)

Chats with the door open or in the hallway aren’t confidential… Other people can hear us!

When the door is closed everything you tell me stays between us unless…

1. You tell me you are going to hurt yourself.

2. You tell me someone is going to hurt you.

3. You tell me you are going to hurt someone.

4. There is a medical emergency.

5. You tell me something like “I can’t see the board in math!” I would ask the math teacher to move you to the front row and ask the school nurse to check your eyesight.

In other words, I only need to share the details of what we talk about if your wellbeing is at stake. I do this because I care and because I am legally bound to do so. I will always do my best to let you know before I share anything we talk about so it isn’t a surprise to you.

Pre-Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

These simple parent letters are designed to help you and your students communicate with their parents about the first day of school. This freebie includes letters for preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade.

This is an editable PowerPoint document. You must have PowerPoint to use this file.

Each page contains two text boxes that you can fill with your own text prior to printing. Alternatively, you can delete the text in the boxes and print the page with no text if you would prefer to hand write your notes.

You can choose to prepare these notes in their entirety before the first day of school by filling the text boxes with information about what you have planned and what you want parents to know going forward.

If you would prefer, you can type a little note in the bottom text box, but leave the top box empty for your students to fill in at the end of the day.

A third option would be to use the bottom box to hand write a quick note about each particular child and how their first day went.

You have just found a gem! My students have thoroughly enjoyed creating this origami while igniting their critical thinking process. At the same time, you get at least 20-30 minutes of quiet time while your students work independently and they get to take home their handmade treasures.

In this product, you will receive detailed written AND pictured instructions on how to fold a 6 by 6-inch paper origami. The two forms of instructions are given to help you differentiate between your student’s various learning styles.

You also receive a preprinted template for each student that will guide them in the folding process at their own pace. This template will greatly help those students that have never folded origami before. You also have the option to print the template on white or colored paper.

On the first day of school, I love to have a coloring sheet on my student’s new desk so they have something to do after they find their seat and put their things away. This sheet is perfect because it incorporates coloring, practicing writing their name, and also can serve as a self-portrait sample to compare with an end of the year portrait sample.

This would be an excellent activity to include in a student’s portfolio or year long scrapbook.
