Using mathematical discussions in the classroom is a powerful way to increase our students’ critical thinking and communication skills. Effective communication about mathematics is essential to help students develop the thinking, self-questioning, and explanation skills needed to master required skills and concepts. 
A successful mathematics program emphasizes communicating mathematically frequently in the classroom. In fact, most state standards include competencies related to communicating effectively through mathematical language, justifying solutions, and evaluating the mathematical thinking of others. 
“Math Talk Moves” are moves made by the student during math talk in the classroom. Teachers can use the moves to teach students how to make connections and respond to others during a discussion of math problems.

Spanish; Not Grade Specific

This wonderful “El Grito “Cultural unit is the perfect way to celebrate Sept 16. Mexican Independence Day in your classroom.  The unit addresses the history of the Father Hidalgo in Dolores and his legendary “Grito de Dolores” that started the Mexican Revolution. The unit also describes in detail the reenactment ceremonies done on Sept 15 every year in the Zocalo of Mexico by the President of Mexico. It is a fun unit with wonderful Word Searches both in Spanish and English to reinforce the reading and cognates. Finally a fun coloring activity can be used for Elementary students. Contents
This pack contains no prep ‘Tic Tac Toe’ game boards for the /p/ sound- there are 6 boards in total- 2 boards for each position (word initial, medial and final!). Both color & black and white boards are provided. The game is not seasonally themed, so it is perfect for use all year round! The black & white pages are great used as homework too!

Preparation
There is no preparation required; just print and go (cut the pages in half to separate the two boards if desired). The boards can also be laminated for durability.

How to play
The game is played like ‘Tic Tac Toe’. Players take it in turns to choose one word from the board, they have to say the word correctly 3 times, then they can cover the picture up using either a counter or a O/X mark. The winner is the first person to get three pictures joined in a row, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally.

Individual Student Behavior Tracker (Editable) for Classroom Management

 

This tracker allows a student to set behavior or task goals each day. It is editable to enter the goals/tasks and change them as needed. There are 6 choices of half page with 5 goals/tasks focus or one full page by schedule. The reward or incentive can be typed underneath the tracking box. I’ve also included goal/task ideas to copy and paste.

I’ve also included the behavior book which can be used simultaneously. I suggest to use the behavior book for extreme or serious behavior incidents. I try not to overuse the behavior book.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON – “Phonics Fun with Vowel Pattern OW {FREE}”

This packet is a great addition when learning the vowel pattern “OW”.

The first activity is sentence cards with owl graphics. I like to put them up around the room and have students walk around with a buddy and practice reading them. After they read the sentences they need to find the words with “OW” and write them on the sheet provided. They will also make at least 5 new sentences with the words they find.

The next activity is great for writing centers as well. Students unscramble the same sentences from the first activity and glue them on the booklet pages. You can make it into 2 separate books with 4 pages or one book with 8.
