Take Christmas around the world! Get your students in the holiday spirit by having them take an international adventure with Santa Claus as he makes his way around the world. This map skills and research activity requires students to use a map, atlas, or globe to identify world cities by latitude and longitude as well as the countries, hemispheres, and continents in which they belong. Students are also asked to research some additional information about the country through questions about climate, currency, and a special message from Santa. Great for individual or small group work at Christmas.

This resource includes the following:

★ See the World with Santa map skills worksheet covering latitude/longitude; country; continent; hemisphere; bodies of water; climate; currency; and language of 15 destinations from around the world

Attitude of Gratitude

I woke up in a funk the other morning so I pulled the covers over my head trying to go back to sleep. As I began to doze, my dog stuck her head under the sheet and I felt her cold nose on my leg. I knew that trying to stay in bed was futile, so I threw on some clothes and took her outside feeling frustrated and annoyed. As we began walking, the pain in my knee and heel started to subside and the phrase, attitude of gratitude came into my head as I realized how lucky I am to be able to walk, others aren’t so fortunate.

Don’t you love those word-themed shapes? Here’s a way you can have your students make one without having to try a capricious app.

There are 2 versions of the cornucopia in this product.

The first is for younger children. Have the students write what they are thankful for within the blank spaces of the cornucopia. They may also color the picture.

The second cornucopia is more suitable for older children or those that are pretty adept at printing. The cornucopia on this page is outlined in very light gray. Have students use these as writing lines to record what they are thankful for. The final result will be a word-picture.

104 Calendar pieces for your November pocket chart. Size of daily pieces are 2.5 x 3 inches and will fit standard Calendar pocket charts.

There are 2 sets of calendar pieces included to use in any pattern you’d like to create. On our daily Calendar page, my students draw the corresponding pictures along with the date. I give them brown and red crayons to use and by the end of the month, their calendar looks great!

I have also included medallions for holidays and special days. You can tape the medallion to the upper left or lower right corner of the calendar piece. When the month is done, store them with the other pieces so that next year you can change the dates when you re-use them.

Also, there are extra clipart pieces to make a master pattern for your students to follow.

The Common Core Learning Standards place great emphasis on a student’s ability to use text-based evidence in written answers. “RAPS” is a teacher-tested method that provides an easy way for students to recall the organization and requirements of a text-based answer.

Best yet, it can be used in ALL content areas!

RAPS stands for the following:
Restate the topic
Answer the question
Provide specific details
Sum it up

Included in the unit:
* definitions of key terms
* RAPS poster
* graphic organizer
* worksheet
* sample (ELA) question for students to try
*I have even included an example of an exemplary response for the sample question.

Try this out, and before you know it students will read a question and know immediately if RAPS is required!

Your kiddos will love these Happy Birthday Candy Bar Wrappers – a perfect way to celebrate student birthdays!

Each boy and girl wrapper is sized to fit a Hershey bar. After typing your students’ names, your name, and date in the editable text boxes, simply cut around the two sides of each wrapper, fold on the dotted lines and wrap around the candy bar; then glue or tape at the back. Simple as pie! 🙂
