FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON – “Daily 5 Check In Smartboard Freebie – St. Patrick’s Day Theme”

by Smart Kinder Kids

Pre-Kindergarten – 4th Grade

patsday smartboard

This colorful St. Patrick’s Day inspired Daily 5 Check In SmartBoard is sure to get your kids excited about Daily 5 and will help them to learn how to make choices!

There are five slides to use for check in. You can use just one or use the different colored ones for different days or rotations.

Teachers can track their students’ whereabouts in the room and ensure that all stations are being used and that students don’t repeat stations.
Files can be saved by day, for the week or over the course of the year by using the “Save As” button and saving them by their date. You can also clone the page and add to different color backgrounds for different days of the week or different rotations.

Instructions are given in this file on how to input student names into the boxes. Once you have done this one time, you will have the names to copy and paste throughout the year for all sorts of Smartboards including attendance, lunch count, class graphs, etc. There is also a link to my blog to learn how to do screen shots if you want to learn how to ensure names don’t accidentally come ungrouped.

I do custom orders so if you have a special theme or would like me to enter the names for you please email me at smartkinderkids@yahoo.com

Thanks for checking out my work. Hope you enjoy it! Follow me on my blog at
http://smartkinderkids.blogspot.com/
so you can learn more about using technology in your classroom to advance student learning.

***IMPORTANT NOTE*** Please remember that if you are having technical difficulty grouping, ungrouping, cloning, doing screen shots etc as you start to personalize your files that these are issues you campus technician can help you with or you can email me to help you, however, these are not grounds for leaving a poor feedback. Learning to use Smart Notebook software can be difficult and frustrating at first until you get the hang of it, so please seek out help if you feel something is not working correctly as there is often an easy fix. Thanks!

Please also note – this is a Notebook file for use with Smartboards. I believe there are ways to convert these files to other formats however I do not know how to do this and therefore you would need to ask your campus technician if you are using a different type of board to see if it is compatible.

Math stations are one of the current hot button topics for educators and the sessions with the longest lines at any math conference because they are not only fun for students but can be adapted to address a whole host of learning styles– more than we can typically address in a whole class setting. However, using math stations effectively in the classroom can seem like an overwhelming endeavor for beginners. To support those teachers who have been wanting to get started with math stations and to share some of my favorite tips and techniques with beginners and novices alike, this 6-part series features the 5 Ws of math stations: Who, What, When, Where, and Why.

Phonological awareness refers to awareness of and access to the sound structure of language. Spoken words are comprised of strings or sequences of phonemes that signal different meanings. Awareness that changes in these sequences result in changes in meaning is crucial in literacy skills development. If a student cannot conceptualize the order of sounds and syllables in words, he cannot associate the sound units with written symbols.

By Shametria Routt of The Routty Math Teacher

Did you know that pattern blocks can be used for more than just teaching shapes in your geometry unit– pattern blocks can be used all year long! The proportionality of the pieces extends the number of ways in which they can be used, including analyzing the characteristics and common attributes of two-dimensional shapes, identifying fractional relationships, and building an understanding of operations with whole numbers. FREE MATH LESSON – “Turkey Smartboard Freebie – Skip Counting by 2 Sequencing Puzzle”

by Smart Kinder Kids

Pre-Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

turkey smartboard

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you enjoy this freebie from Smartkinderkids!

With this freebie, you get a brightly colorful and happy smartboard puzzle. Students can work whole group, small group, or individually to sequence the puzzle from 2-20 (skip counting by 2s).

This freebie can also be used as an Assessment Tool by teachers to determine if students can count by 2s.

If you like this product, please consider leaving positive feedback in my TpT store and checking out more Smartboard products! I love Smartboard files because I ensure that my students are actively engaged in their learning, are developing fine motor skills as well as technology skills. The biggest plus as a teacher, besides knowing your kids are learning and having fun, is that you don’t have to search for space to store the items as in traditional center games – just save to a thumb drive and VOILA – you are set for next fall. I hope you enjoy!
