The Spelling Flip Book is designed to help young learners become familiar with spelling rules and to incorporate them into their work.
Students can color and personalize their flip books to enhance the spelling learning experience.
I always like encouraging my students to use their flip books as reference sheets when they are working to promote good spelling habits. The goal is that eventually, by using the flipbook when working, the student will begin to remember common errors made in the past and correct them. I have had much success with this strategy in my classes.
I’ve also included a color copy and an answer key – a total of 18 pages.

There is great flexibility in how you use the rubric to generate grades. It can be a useful formative assignment tool to provide feedback to students about how to improve their responses. It can be used with summative assessments to evaluate student understanding.
The categories for the rubric are: * Does not meet minimum requirements (students are then required to redo the assignment with scaffolding or re-teaching as needed) * Satisfactory * Exceeds Expectations * Advanced

This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the letters to give the punch line to a bad maths joke! Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the letter in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the letter underneath, thus collecting the punchline ‘because they have sine and cosine to get a tan’. Easily laminated to be used with whiteboard pens time and time again.

What Are Doodle Clips? Doodle Clips are images created from sketching traditionally (on paper), inking (blackline), then coloring either traditionally (with markers, pencils, or paint) or digitally. They tend to have a much more organic feel, and AREN’T composed of perfectly straight lines. There is beauty in imperfection, which is what I love most about Doodle Clips!

Need an engaging way to get your students to replace the overused word ‘said’ (often referred to as a tired/boring/dead word). This free sample of my Boring Words Interactive Notebook and Synonym Booklets Bundle is a FUN way to get students to expand their vocabulary and improve their writing.
This free sample includes: ♦ foldable booklet with numerous synonyms for said ♦ “RIP SAID” tombstone ♦ Instructions on how to create a 3D tombstone ♦ Instructions on how to create a mini foldable book ♦ The synonyms within the book are grouped together based on meaning; and the words are illustrated to show this. ♦ The splash of color in each image helps students zero in on the part of the picture that highlights context. ♦ The illustrations not only serve to show students the meaning of a word, they serve to entertain and engage learners as well.
The paid version of this resource includes: ♦ 700 descriptive words ♦ a “RIP Dead Words” bulletin board decor pack ♦ 20+ mini picture thesauruses that come in 3 print options (foldables, small cards, large cards) ♦ an interactive notebook!
I created my picture thesauruses as a way to solve a problem I was having in my classroom. I wanted my students to be more descriptive in their writing, but the traditional resource used for finding better words – a thesaurus – was just not working! Students would arbitrarily select a word from the long list provided, and often, the word selected was used incorrectly (ie. not in the right context).
I began to wonder… how could I show my class that each word in a thesaurus has a slightly different meaning? If only there were visuals to help students SEE the subtle differences between synonyms, I thought.
So I began working on solving these problems… and presto, my mini “picture thesauruses” (yep, that’s a term I made up) were born. Kid friendly! Fun! Interactive! Engaging! Easy to use!!!
How the books are organized and why:
My bundle of mini books (in the complete set) is based on THE 5 SENSES + EMOTIONS because I find that when students describe the look, smell, taste, sound or feel of an object, it just catapults their writing to a whole new level. Using precise vocabulary to describe emotions helps students add some ‘voice’ to their writing! If you want your students to expand their vocabulary, you can download the complete set HERE.
Set of four different Chevron Colors, each page has four labels per sheet. Just click on the “Insert Text Here” and create labels for anything for your classroom. You can even change the font/ sizing. You must have Powerpoint to be able to open this product.
These labels are easy to print on standard copy paper, laminate them for years of use!
