This is a FREEBIE. It breaks down the different parts of the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution, so that they are easily remembered. It makes the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution even more personally relevant, because it asks for the students to either draw illustrations for each component, or to cut and paste visuals for each component of the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution.

Pre-Kindergarten – 5th Grade

This is the behavior chart I used to go along with my superhero themed classroom. I printed each page on colored card stock, laminated it together, and used magnets for student numbers.

One thing to note is that if you do choose to use it on a specifically sized bulletin or magnet board, you may have to cut the bottoms of some pages to make it fit.

This is a fairly simple game for students to practice their place value skills to the hundreds. Two students play against each other. Each student picks 3 number cards from a pile and tries to make the biggest number they can. The player with the biggest number gets a star. The winner is the player with the most stars. I’ve also included a recording sheet for students to practice writing standard form, word form, and expanded form.

Reading programs are most successful when students have a chance to share the books they love with each other. Nothing fuels reading like the recommendation of a great book from a friend.

Use this quick and easy “Book Selfie” set to set up a spot for your students to snap photos of themselves with their favorite books.

Then create a “Recommended Reading” display with posters you make on Canva using their photos (directions included!). Use the included heading letters for an easy and beautiful bulletin board, and watch as the books your students love most fly off your shelves.

Spread the Gospel through Trade is a cooperative game encouraging players to band together versus a common enemy – the devil. To win, players will need to share resources and make joint plans and decisions. SGT uses interpersonal skills like planning ahead, listening, sharing, negotiating, etc. that are needed for teamwork and collaboration with others in the real world. While sharing ideas and strategies, players are engaging higher level thinking even when it is not their turn.

SGT also gives practice in economic decision making, reading maps, charts and relating scripture to these. Play consists of players spreading the gospel to every region, financed through wise trading, in a limited number of turns while adverse circumstances and the devil try to thwart their efforts.

ZIP file includes .PDFs with game board, tokens, cards and directions.

This is a great tool for getting spelling homework returned every week! Parents and students love the free choice it creates!

Students pick from a wide menu of items that are valued at different points, making sure to turn in enough points to satisfy the teacher requirement. Even on short weeks, just reduce the number of points required. Management tip: Run the menu off on card stock, laminate, hole punch, and place in a three-prong homework folder so you save paper on spelling homework all year long! Or print the different templates on different colors to keep it fresh and fun throughout the year (place in a sheet protector) in the 3 brads of a 2-pocket folder.

Have you tried my interactive color code videos? Well, if not, here is your chance to try one for free. These videos are engaging and fun! Each one runs for about 30 minutes! Use this time to keep your students engaged while you re-teach small groups or test students one-on-one. These are also wonderful resources for subs!

Make copies of the included worksheet for your students. Turn the video on and walk away. The video tells students what color crayons to get. There is a timer to keep them on task . Each addition fact pops up in yellow and students color the corresponding area of their sheet. These are wonderful for mental math as well as time management and following directions.

This video focuses on addition facts to 13.

Print this free classroom poster to remind your students that when they are done -READ.

As of 6/6/11, I changed the file to a zip file and included a 300 dpi jpeg. I sent my jpeg to Walgreens and had them make a 16 x 20 poster. I framed the poster in a silver frame to hang above my reading center. It turned out great! The original pdf file is also included.

*The picture seen is compressed to fit on TPT as a thumbnail.

Real Reading vs. Really Not Reading Anchor Charts. The organizers focus on Metacognition, thinking about your thinking, and what it looks like to be a real reader. You can print these out as a posters, kids can put it in their Reader’s / Writer’s Notebook, or you can use it as a model for making a Real Reading anchor chart with your students.

These ideas and reading strategies were adapted from my favorite comprehension book, Tanny McGregor’s Comprehension Connections.

Science Lab Inventory Form

An organized teacher is a happy teacher! If you are required to turn in a lab inventory each year, this simple form will help you get organized and stay organized.

At my school, we are required to turn in a lab inventory at the end of each and every year. The first year I had to do this, I was a bit overwhelmed by the task. My lab is fairly well equipped, and it took a long time for me to list each item.

Now, several years later, this is a simple and easy task. I keep my lab inventory list in a convenient location in my lab. As the year progresses, I remove consumable items that have been used up, or items that have been broken. When I purchase new supplies, I simply add them to the list as the new items arrive.

The lab inventory form is completely editable. You can print out copies and write on them, or you can type directly into the form on your computer.

Remember the Father’s Day cards we made back in elementary school? Let’s revisit that tradition for our middle- and high-school students with these print-and-go materials that’ll make a bunch of dads (and father figures) feel appreciated on their special day.

Included:
• A student handout featuring eight slices of poetry about fathers/masculine power.
• Six coloring pages that fold in half to become cards (Print on white paper, colored paper, or cardstock – grab whatever’s available in the copier room and go!)

Suggested lesson procedure:
1. Begin by handing out the page that includes eight bits of poetry, giving students a few minutes to read them all.
2. Have students choose the poem that reminds them most of their father/closest paternal figure.
3. Give students a choice of card designs.
4. Inside the card, have them write a loving note to the recipient and include the lines of poetry in their best handwriting.
5. With any remaining time in class, have students color the front of the card with colored pencils or sharp-tipped markers. The coloring portion can be completed in class if time allows or sent home for students to complete on their own time.

Tip: When printing the cards, choose “Print Full Size” on your printer settings. If you choose “Scale to Fit” (the default on many printers), your cards may have unevenly spaced borders.
