Free Emergent Reader about The Gifts of the Magi. The sight words for this booklet include: here, it, is, a.

The sentences in this little story are based on a pattern with predictable endings. The last word in each sentence changes, but can be determined by focusing on the picture clues.

This book focuses on the gifts of the Three Kings, gold, frankincense, and myrrh. There are transparent pictures for each of the gifts to help explain their deeper meaning.

Permission is granted to make copies for classroom use, Sunday School, and home study. All graphics are from Charlotte’s Clips.

Children practice letter identification and fine motor skills as they find capital and lower case letters in the maze. This little activity focuses on the letters S and P and makes a cute addition to your literacy centers during the Holidays. Print and laminate the sheets and allow children to complete the trail through the maze using erasable whiteboard markers or print out one for each child and have them colour in each square that has the correct letter in it.

Includes “S is for Santa” and “P is for Penguin” cards, 6 mazes and solutions.

FREE Christmas Math Activity– These are versions of fun, holiday shopping math activities for students who are learning about rounding, estimation, and percent (sales tax). The first activity is easier and includes practice with rounding and estimation. The second one is more difficult and includes practice with determining sales tax and total cost of an item. Both activities can be used in one class if differentiation is a goal or if students are able to do both. They could also be used in a math center.

These are authentic activities because the activities are real world situations. I can see this fitting into Common Core Math standards.

You will need to have store advertisements available (either paper or electronic online versions).

Ideal for a reading center, Christmas Sentence Picture Match includes 12 sentences and matching pictures. Santa Claus, tree, star, gingerbread man, snowman, Rudolph reindeer and bells are included in sentences that focus on commonly used nouns, preprimer and primer words. Directions, a page of Christmas vocabulary, and a follow up worksheet are included. Students will read each sentence and put it with the corresponding picture. My kiddos love to use these in a pocket chart, but you can also use them on a table or even the floor. This is a fun way to practice sight words, and could be used in reading groups, a center, with a tutor, or for independent practice.

Logic problems are a fun way to keep kids engaged, especially at the end of the year. My store is packed with these that may be purchased for a dollar a piece or in bulk for a discounted price. Why not plan ahead and take care of all the holidays at once with one of my logic problems to last the year packets.


This original packet was made to challenge students in third through fifth grades, but some of these problems are tough and most likely would meet the needs of older students in the regular classroom. 


The booklet contains twelve logic problems from the first day of school until the Tired Teachers at the end. Along the way, students will tackle challenges centered around Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas (2), Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, April Fools Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day. If you teach younger kids, no worries, I have the materials for your kids, too, with Logic Problems to Last the Year (Book II) for grades 1 – 3. This mini version of the original book contains six logic problems surrounding the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and our American Independence Day. These matrix logic problems contain one grid to challenge our bright younger students, but once again, they could also challenge an older child in the regular classroom.
