This teaching resource was created by me to provide an opportunity to write about book characters. Understanding characters in the story will improve reading comprehension. Talking about characters in books teaches citizenship and life lessons that are so valuable to literacy instruction.
There are 7 pages included here to write about character traits, and their words and actions in the story.
These pages can be used with ANY book or character.
Great way to teach descriptive writing and adjectives.

Product Description
Les cartes éclair et les affiches intitulées « Les collations nutritives » font parties de la série « Apprendre à lire ».

Le gabarit inclut aussi deux activités d’écriture guidée. Les élèves peuvent soit réécrire les phrases ou les tracer.

Les élèves apprendront ce qui consiste une collation saine et apprendront aussi à lire les phrases qui se trouvent sur les affiches et les cartes éclaires. En début d’apprentissage, les phrases sont accompagnées d’image. Plus tard, le défi sera de lire les mots et les phrases sans les images.

Le vocabulaire à l’étude : yogourt, collations, fruits, légumes et fromage.

La répétition du mot « voici », « ma », « des » et « du ».

De plus, l’enseignant(e) peut faire remarquer aux élèves les lettres majuscules et la ponctuation à la fin de la phrase.

Con este recurso tendrán 10 grupos de 9 palabras para usar en centros, grupos pequeños, individualmente, con compañeros, o clase entera, todo depende en cómo el maestro lo quiera usar. Los estudiantes usarán solo las 9 palabras de cada grupo para formar oraciones completas. Hay muchas posibilidades de oraciones que se pueden formar en cada grupo, así que todos los niños pueden tener éxito en su nivel. Los estudiantes pueden copiar las oraciones que formen en un papel o cuaderno, y deben recordar de empezar cada oración con letra mayúscula, usar comas si necesitan, y poner punto al final.

This game is based on the Jeopardy game show. This is great for a quick vowel, spelling review with younger students. To play, students spell the names of the pictures. Directions are included. I would suggest dividing the students into groups to track team points. Have fun!

Also, the words used in the game are listed below.

A Words: CAT-RAKE-GRASS-PLATE-APPLE
E Words: NET-EEL-DESK-GREEN-EAR
I Words: FISH-ICE-MICE-KITE-ZIPPER

This is an easy art project that supplements social-emotional learning and community engagement. Perfect for the end of the school year, before a field trip, or as a fun way of spreading cheer around the playground!

Simply collect rocks, paint them, affix a label to the back, cover in modge podge or clear glue, and hide in any appropriate public place! For even more fun, add a hashtag or start a facebook page so folks who find your rocks (and are inspired to create their own rocks!) can post pictures of where they find and rehide yours.

Understanding how to make an inference from text is often difficult for children. Children make inferences all the time without realizing exactly what they are doing. It is important to share with them that making inferences is like being a detective. You look at all the evidence or clues and put them together along with their background knowledge to come up with an idea about a situation or problem. This packet is filled with “close-ups” and pictures of 50 different creatures.

How to use “What am I?”:

Use the following pictures on a Smartboard, in small groups or individually to introduce and teach the reading comprehension strategy of inferring.

Begin by having my students look closely at the picture of the close-up. Ask them what they see or observe in this picture? What details do they notice? What do they see when looking “closely”? What might they infer this is, based on what they see in the close-up?

Next, have your students make a list of clues or evidence to support their conclusions about the close-up. Using the clues or evidence, what inference can they make about what this creature is? Have them use their evidence to support their conclusions.

Common Core Standards introduced or covered include:

RL.1 and RIT.1 – Ask and answer questions about key details in a text

SL.2 – Recount or describe key ideas or details from a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media

SL.3 – Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 3 topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly. (Determine the main ideas and supporting details of a text read aloud or information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally)

SL.4 – Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 4 topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.
