FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON – “Hanakkuh Hangman”

by Teacher’s Open House

1st – 3rd Grade

This game is played just like Hangman only it is a much gentler version. Students draw an arm, a leg, etc. until a complete person is made…at that point the loser is determined! This is best played by partners.

What does this game teach?

Letter formation, vocabulary, comprehension, letter sounds, and helps with vowel sounds, too! And bet of all, it is fun!! Enjoy this Hanakkuh game!

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON – “Asking Questions Graphic Organizer: Who What When Where Why and How?”

by The Teacher Treasury

2nd – 5th Grade

1 page graphic organizer

Prompt students to complete the organizer with questions about specific topics. I have placed a few possibilities below, but I’m sure you can do much more with it.

* What questions do you have about your book?

* If you could interview anyone in the world, dead or alive, what questions would you ask him/her?

* What questions do you have for your future self?

* Have you ever wondered how your grandparents met? What questions do you have about their first meeting?

* What are some of the most important questions you should ask when you are lost?

*Think about what you want to be doing or who you want to be when you grow up. What questions do you have for someone who is doing those things today?

* Write down some of the burning questions you’ve always wanted to ask and the ones that were never answered.

* What questions would you ask an alien?

* If animals could talk, what are some of the questions you would ask them?

Hope this helps =)

Halloween is often a teacher’s personal horror story! LOL! We, at WE TEACH SO HARD, feel the pain, because we’re here in the trenches with you…scavenging the aisles of Target the night before for a costume that isn’t sexy…binging on the chocolate you bought for your students…watching the room parents take over…all on a full moon! We raise our pumpkin spice latte in empathy, sympathy and solidarity!

So, come laugh and plan your Halloween survival strategies with us at We Teach So Hard. We’ve got you covered with some funny stories and expert tips!

FREE MATH LESSON – “Escape Room FREEBIE – Rounding, Addition, and Subtraction”

by Third Grade Triumph

3rd – 4th Grade

Try out this Escape Room in your classroom for FREE. It’s a small sample of how my Escapes work. Try it out today! Leave feedback below! Thank you! Also, don’t forget to connect on Instagram and Pinterest, too!

After visiting the Ron Clark Academy (RCA), which if you haven’t had the opportunity to do so, I highly suggest it! It’s an AMAZING experience and really life-changing. I saw this concept used there, so I adapted it and changed it for my classroom. My students are always begging me to play this!

THIS ESCAPE NOW INCLUDES A RECORDING SHEET AND MINI SHEETS SO TECHNOLOGY IS NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY. WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY, YOU CAN STILL USE THIS GAME, YOU JUST WON’T BE ABLE TO HAVE YOUR STUDENTS FILL IN THE GOOGLE FORM, INSTEAD YOU’D USE THE RECORDING SHEET AND CHECK THEIR ANSWERS USING THE ANSWER KEY PROVIDED. YOU’D TELL YOUR STUDENTS IF THEY CAN ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL OR IF THEY NEED TO GO BACK AND FIX SOME ANSWERS.

****IF YOU’D LIKE TO USE THE GOOGLE FORM, THEN this interactive escape room requires technology. Students will need to access a Google Form, so any technology that allows them to access and complete a Google Form will work!*****

Level 1

Students will solve addition and subtraction equations relating to CCSS 3.NBT.2

Level 2

Students will answer rounding questions relating to CCSS 3.NBT.1

Level 3

Students will answer questions about place value relating to CCSS 3.NBT.1

This is a great way to review all the rounding, place value, and addition/subtraction content you’ve taught in 3rd grade or a great way to review for 4th graders. Make the days leading up to your assessment fun with this rigorous and engaging math review.

FREE SCIENCE LESSON – “Aardvarks Clip Art and Reading Pack”

by J MASON EMERSON

Pre-Kindergarten – 12th Grade

Aardvarks Clip Art And Reading Pack has 32 public domain images of aardvarks. There are color photos and black and white drawings. Insofar as instructions or suggestions go, you can enlarge or shrink the public domain images’ sizes, move the images around, etc. The images are handy for any classroom (Pre-K through higher ed) and any age or ability level but teachers of art and natural studies in science will likely regard them as being of special interest. Teachers of Pre-K students up will find them handy for using as reward stickers, for classroom décor, etc.

Sources for the aardvark public domain clip art here and in other similar publications include wpclipart.com, clker.com, wikipedia.org, plates from the 1800s works of John Gould, John James Audubon, various federal government agencies, and a few from myself. To summarize:

Contents: Aardvark Images (32, public domain); Quick Facts About Ardvaarks in first English then non-Castillian, Latin American Spanish which should help Spanish-speaking students in regular classes or ESL; Aardvark In Multiple Languages; Aardvark Board Game Template (similar to Candyland or Aggravation); 20 Ways To Teach With Clip Art About Aardvarks Etc; Details For Educational Games (including for teaching about aardvarks; Aardvarks Word Search; Answers Key For Aardvarks Word Search; True-False Test About Aardvarks.

If you don’t have ELL’s now, then you may later. This is dedicated to my wife Barbara, a science teacher for 28 years.
