Make a Winter Banner and tell classmates about interesting ideas and observations.
The printable pages of this packet will help your students contribute to a winter display banner filled with ideas and facts.
Print the pennants that spell out “winter”‘ and display on a string in your classroom. Each student can then add to the banner by adding interesting ideas and observations. They can also draw ideas for winter activities.
There is also a backline’ version that students can decorate before creating your winter classroom banner!

Fun! Fun! Fun!
Children match the uppercase letters with the appropriate lowercase letters by “clipping” the clothespins to the appropriate answers. It’s best to program the answers on the backs of the cards with a highlighter or circular stickers. This way, the center becomes self-checking. 
Letter knowledge is a kindergarten skill. However, there are many first graders that require additional practice . . . especially at the beginning of the school year when they are recovering from the “Summer Slump”. Additionally, many children enter first grade feeling frustrated and overwhelmed by their new grade level requirements. Providing struggling first graders with a center that they can complete at 96% to 100% accuracy builds their confidence in working independently.

I relaxed for several days in an ashram in India. I scaled Mt. Everest in a dangerous ascent. I explored declining sea life on faded reefs and in the depths of the ocean. I also gazed at famous paintings and scultpures in the Vatican, and I spent an entire week in Africa. I visited with the inventors of the airplane, the Wright brothers. WOW! I did quite a lot! How did I do it?
I always approach the end of the school year with mixed emotions, though I’m ecstatic to be out for summer vacation, I always feel a little sad saying good-bye. Many of my soon to be 7th graders hug me and leave with tears in their eyes, knowing that our little family will no longer be together. All the trials and tribulations, the challenges, the fun times and sad times will be always be with us, but it will never be the same.
